Nuno Espirito Santo got his first win as Nottm Forest boss in impressive fashion on Boxing Day as his side secured a well-deserved 3-1 win away at Newcastle. The result saw Forest move up to 16th in the EPL table, though they remain just two points clear of the relegation zone and will be desperate to secure a third home win of the season. However, they face a Man Utd side that showed plenty of fight and no shortage of quality in their comeback victory on Tuesday.

At 2-0 down at half-time against Aston Villa, the boos were ringing out around Old Trafford and Erik Ten Haag must have been feeling the pressure. But he managed to get a response from his players to secure the three points. Can United back up that display with a win at Forest? Or will the Tricky Trees heap the pressure back on Ten Haag?

Manchester United will look to record back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since November when they take on Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

United will hope their 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day will finally kickstart their season and not be yet another false dawn. Forest go into the clash on the back of a midweek 3-1 win over Newcastle United under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

He has pinpointed Bruno Fernandes as the man to be wary of, although the Forest admitted United have many talented players. United sit seventh in the table and anything but three points would put another dent in their top four hopes.

Man United and Aston Villa combined for 11 shots on goal on Tuesday, which explains the impressive five total goals scored. It was close, but Man United capped 2023 with a 3-2 victory over Aston Villa. The last goal Man United scored came from Rasmus Hojlund in minute 82.

Meanwhile, Nottingham scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle. The last goal Nottingham scored came from Chris Wood in minute 60.

Man United's win bumped their record up to 10-1-8. As for Nottingham, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5-10.

Man United beat Nottingham by a goal when the teams last played back in August, winning 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Man United since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.

The mood has been somewhat lifted by a dramatic 3-2 victory over Aston Villa, ending a four-match winless run, but there is still plenty of pressure on Erik ten Hag and his players as they travel to the City Ground.

Forest ended their own wait for a win last time out with a win away to Newcastle, easing their relegation fears as Nuno Espírito Santo got off the mark.

Nuno Espirito Santo lost his first game in charge of Forest against Bournemouth, however, Willy Boly's harsh sending off cost his side. They then bounced back with a brilliant 3-1 win at Newcastle, with ex-Toon forward Chris Wood netting a hat-trick.

Forest's win at Newcastle moved them up to 16th in the Premier League and they can further distance themselves from the bottom three with a victory against United.

The Red Devils won their first game since early December on Boxing Day as Erik ten Hag's side came from 2-0 down to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund netted the winner and his first Premier League goal against Villa to ease the pressure on Ten Hag. The victory moved United up to sixth and closed the gap to the top four.

Erik ten Hag’s men come into this game off the back of an incredible comeback against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, where the Reds overturned a two-goal deficit to triumph 3-2 with a brace by Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund's dramatic first Premier League strike.

While Ten Hag is expecting most of our sidelined players to return in the new year, there is chance Amad Diallo may be available for selection in our final game of 2023 at the City Ground. The Ivory Coast international has been working his way towards full fitness after suffering an injury during our pre-season endeavours in the US. The Boxing Day fixture against Villa saw returns to the starting line-up for Christian Eriksen, for the first time since November, and Raphael Varane, who missed the previous weekend's trip to West Ham.

The Reds sadly picked up a couple of additional injury issues prior to the Villa game, with both Luke Shaw and Sofyan Amrabat absent from the squad through minor knocks. In his pre-match interview with club media, Erik ten Hag confirmed that he did not believe the pair would be out for long and a further update may become available in his press conference prior to Saturday's game.

Forest will have defender Willy Boly back in action after serving a one-match suspension away to Newcastle - he was shown two yellow cards in the first half of their last home game, a 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth. A groin injury means striker Taiwo Awoniyi is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, where he has joined Serge Aurier, Felipe, and Ibrahim Sangare.

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo will welcome defender Willy Boly back from suspension as record signing Ibrahim Sangare serves a one-match ban. The midfielder picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in the win at Newcastle and will be missing, along with injured trio Serge Aurier, Felipe and Taiwo Awoniyi.

Manchester United have no fresh concerns. Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Mason Mount are set for mid-January returns while the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial remain sidelined.
